Charter Yacht Insurance

If you have every taken out a charter yacht for a while you will probably understand the temptation to take one out for longer. This can be an extremely enjoyable way to spend a few days but it is surprising how many people neglect to arrange yacht insurance protection for this event.

Of course insurance is recommended for any pursuit just like this and whilst many people do not see the need when they are only using the yacht for a few hours, this is not the same as a week or two week vacation where travel insurance must be taken out for the party. The reality is that their insurance does not protect you or your belongings so in the event of an emergency, a private yacht chartering company's rental insurance would only likely cover their employees and their vessel so your belongings will not be covered. It is true you probably won't need to make a claim on the travel insurance as everything will run smoothly buy how can you guarantee that the family and personal cover will not be needed?

There are many aspects to travel insurance including policies that will pay compensation should a trip be cut short or medical attention is required. The variety of cover is comprehensive some of which you will need, some you may not but there are certain factors that are important to include.

The number one priority of your travel insurance should be accidental death and although this is highly unlikely, do you want to chance this? Accidents, although unlikely can be much more serious when at sea and delays can occur when medical assistance is required. Perhaps you now understand just why accidental death cover is so important when you arrange travel insurance.

In addition to protecting yourself, you will also want to protect your belongings that you take with you. Although it is advised that you leave many of your valuables safe at home, you may want to bring some items with you and if that is the case, you will want to make sure that your travel insurance covers all baggage that gets lost, stolen, or damaged.

You may find that there are limits set to how much you can claim so look over the policy inclusions and exclusions section carefully before agreeing to it. As you can see, travel insurance is important to any trip, but particularly the chartering of a private yacht; however, the good news is that it can be acquired for a reasonable price.
